Newbie question about 'cmpfiles'

Hello,

I am a newbie user to python 2.0

Can someone explain 'filecmp' module - 'cmpfiles' function with a simple
example?

I am trying to compare files under 2 different directories, but unable to use
this function.

The 'Python Reference Library' does explain the function, but I am unable to
understand the syntax. What does "common" mean in "cmpfiles(dir1, dir2,
common)"?
