language interpreters/ interpreted languages weaknesses?

Yes, that was my intial 'basic' definition of an 'interpreted' language
too... but after reading some of these responses i not so sure!..
well.. more confused!

btw... are 'scripting languages' the same things as 'interpreted
lanaguages??
