The maintainer of record is Guido Himself.  He doesn't read everything on
c.l.py, so chances are he never saw your msg.  He won't have time to answer
random questions (repeating them on c.l.py with ever-increasing desperation
often works ...).  Sounds more like you wanted to submit a patch, though.
In cases like that, email Guido directly; but check out the CVS tree first
(chances are surprisingly high that your patch is no longer needed), and the
patch guidelines on python.org.
