minimal python for embedded system

Hi all,

I'm looking to embed python in a real-time system and am trying to
figure out the minimal components needed to run the process, do basic
I/O stuff and access modules in C.

Sorry for the lame description but I'm new to Python too so it doesn't
help with this task. We're just trying to take advantage of the Python
language and object oriented nature.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, I'm sure I'll be on
here a lot.
