Ahhh.  Much better now.  Thanks.

Incidentally, I did in fact type "exec_prefix", which was accepted (i.e., the
binary was placed in /usr/bin).  I'm not going to go find out why just now...

But simply setting --prefix to /usr solved my problem.  Must be the lack of
caffeine this morning.
