Well once you've got enough training, anything can seem natural!
Seriously, ask an ordinary person who is reading a book what their
strategy is. If they say: "read one page, then the next, then the next"
then they think iteratively. If they say, read a page and then read the
rest of the book which consists of reading a page and then reading the
rest of the book and so forth, then they think recursively. I suspect that
the latter are pretty rare!
