Sorry, Travis, a bit of oddball slang.  A "tarball" is a .tar archive, 
possibly compressed.  In the case of Grail, it's really a
gzip-compressed tar archive with a .tgz extension.
  (And to think, I've gotten in trouble for "tarball" before; you'd
think I'd learn!)
