I'd certainly be in favour of a native
Tk interface, especially if it became the 
"standard" one included in the distribution.
Even if it wasn't any faster, I'd feel
better while using it!

Wasn't there a Tcl-less Tk interface once
before, that wasn't kept up to date?
Called something beginning with R that
I can't remember.

Maybe you could use that as a starting
point if the Tk C interface hasn't
changed too radically.
