Python interface to IBM Data Explorer?? (DX/OpenDX)

Have you looked at VTK, the Visualization Toolkit? It already has Python
bindings ( as well as TCL, Java, and not to mention a great open source C++
library, several textbooks and an active community). It is at
http://www.kitware.com/vtk.html.
