Reading from a COM port?

Yes, I'm curious about this also. How does one access data from a com port
and then manage the data through python?

What would be a good way to access a COM port in Solaris? I'm trying to
read data from a temperature probe and filter it. Can I just access the
device as a file or is there a more elegant solution? Sorry, I'm just a
