| because too many of those involved in Guile don't understand the
| language. 

Another thing is that Scheme doesn't have a standardized package
system[1], is slower than Common Lisp and also lacks a lot of things
that are built in to Common Lisp.

And, besides, you can get Schemes written in Common Lisp.

[1] This is really important in Emacs where people will be mixing
    modules from authors all over the world in the same environment.
    If two of them use the same name for different variables chaos
    follows.
