I didn't know about Red Hat's «Hedwig» before you mentioned it, but
Ibsen's «Hedvig» in the play «The Wild Duck» (Vildanden) would be my
first guess.

(But then again, it could also be St Hedwig (1174-1243), an owl, or
something completely different. :) )
