mySQL <> Python

Any suggestions to where I can get a compiled version (win32) of a Python
interface for MySQL, e.g. MySQLdb. I will eventually move the python code to
a machine running Linux, but for now I want to test it on a machine running
win2000. I know there have been similar questions to the group previously
but I couldn't find any good answers. Why aren't the developers of the mySQL
python modules supplying compiled code in the first place? In the unix world
I know this isn't a problem, but on my win2k machine the only C compiler I
have is VC++ which I'm not very familiar with.
