Cython has recently made inroads of featuring OpenMP supported parallelisation on SMP/multi-core machines. This gives a good/brief introduction on how this can be accomplished, and what can be expected. Python now really becomes capable of being a language of choice for writing computationally intensive codes for single machines. Together with PyMPI or any other simple multi-host distribution technique (ParallelPython, multiprocessing, PyRO, ...) it can then also easily scale to clusters, while still (mostly) retaining the ease and speed of development we all love Python for. http://www.rcloud.me/2011/09/18/parallel-cython-implementation/ Guy -- Guy K.
