Bad idea, unless you have benchmarks and engineering studies proving
that that effect doesn't exist and never will.

In a community of volunteers, ideology is typically a great motivator.
If it weren't for ideology (specifically, RMS's), many of us wouldn't
be here, and quite likely nothing like the current Linux and BSD
ecosystems would be available yet, and maybe not at all.  Which points
to a better idea: Harness ideology to encourage contributions that
help us all.

Hey, Christian, maybe you know some sustainability advocates who'd
like to help fund that work?  Or do the programming?
