We may just be SOL here.  No one at Pylabs has an installed copy of RH
that old, and if no one here on python-dev steps up, there's not much we
can do.

This late in the game I'm inclined to postpone the patch unless we can
find someone to test it.  Even a patch that does no harm on existing
systems isn't of much use if we can't verify that it fixes the bug.
