Is there another member of this list who uses Solaris? If so, could you contact me privately? We have intermittently succeeded in building Python on Solaris 5.6, but it is more off than on. We haven't succeeded on Solaris 8. We set CC="cc -mt" but we die building _socket. We do have /usr/local/ssl. Having tried to search the bug tracker lately due to this problem, I endorse any attempt to do better.
