I don't see why it would.  handle_read_event and handle_write_event
can raise the asyncore.ExitNow exception to terminate the main loop.
A signal handler should also raise ExitNow, in case it's unlucky and
fires within a handle_*_event() method.

(Boy, do we ever need an asyncore HOWTO.)
