Hello all --

ActiveState is now hosting a site
(http://www.ActiveState.com/PythonCookbook) that will be the beginning of=
 a
series of community-based language-specific cookbooks to be jointly
sponsored by ActiveState and O'Reilly.

The first in the series is the "Python Cookbook". We will be announcing
this effort at the Python Conference, but wanted to give you a sneak peek=
 at
it ahead of time.

The idea behind it is for it to be a managed open collaborative repositor=
y
of Python recipes that implements RCD (rapid content development) for a
cookbook that O'Reilly will eventually publish. The Python Cookbook will =
be
freely available for review and use by all. It will also be different tha=
n
any other project of its kind in one very important way. This will be a
community effort. A book written by the Python community and delivered to
the Python Community, as a handy reference and invaluable aid for those
still to join. The partnership of ActiveState and O=92Reilly provide the
framework, the organization, and the resources necessary to help bring th=
is
book to life.

If you've got the time, please dig in your code base for recipes which yo=
u
may have developed and consider contributing them. That way, you'll help=
 us
'seed' the cookbook for its launch at the 9th Python Conference on March
5th!

Whether you have the time to contribute or not, we'd appreciate it if you
registered, browsed the site and gave us feedback at
pythoncookbook@ActiveState.com.

We want to make sure that this site reflects the community's needs, so al=
l
feedback is welcome.

Thanks in advance for all your efforts in making this a successful endeav=
or.

Thanks,

David Ascher & the Cookbook team
