Summary: Encoding memory problem.

Initial Comment:
When you execute command
import select
python crashes under windows XP/2000
I think this bug inside Python interpreter. However
when you remove first line or remove comments this
command executes fine under Python 2.4 but still crash
under Python 2.4.1
