Summary: test_sundry bogosity

Initial Comment:
test_sundry is a bit bogus.  If one of the modules
can't be imported, none of the succeeding modules are
even minimally tested.  Should it be rewritten so that
a failed import of one module doesn't shortcircuit the
rest of the imports?
