Hang on a minute. Is it really necessary for the GF
machinery to concern itself with this? By the time
you get to the (possibly overloaded) method object,
dispatching on 'self' has already been done. So the
GF machinery can just ignore 'self' and dispatch on
the rest of the arguments -- can't it?
