I'm new to compiling Python itself on Windows XP. Can anyone offer
advice on how to do it?

Is it possible to build the Python trunk with Visual Studio 2005 Express
(the free version)?

My real purpose is to be able to test patches that are available on
Windows so that they can be accepted.

There is a patch for allowing mmap to accept the offset parameter that
is an important addition that I'd like to help get into Python 2.6 (and
Python 3.0).

Thanks for any advice,
