i forgot how to reproduce the msgstruct problem, sorry.

i'll re-create an issue when i remember how to reproduce.

btw, ./pytest.py dotviewer now complains.  here's a patch to fix it.
(i'm now familiar with pytest.  i don't know if it's a right way to
invoke the test.)
