An Principal Software Engineer is responsible for designing developing scalable web applications deployed in the cloud and co-located environments. They oversee an app team to guide product delivery across the UI, API and infrastructure layers. Principal software engineers set and enforce standards for system design, application requirements, and proper maintenance and monitoring. They are required to have excellent communication skills, handle multiple projects and timelines, delegate well, and have working knowledge of several programming languages and frameworks. Essential Job Functions - Building dynamic web applications(Django, Flask, Backbone.js, Node.js, Hapi) - Designing and building event-driven micro services, and APIs (Django, Flask, Hapi) - Designing, building, and performance-tuning database and storage strategies - Infrastructure development on AWS (EC2, SNS/SQS, Elasticache, RDS [Aurora, MySQL, PostgreSQL], Elasticsearch, Kinesis, and many others) - Deploying, scaling, automating, and monitoring servers in multiple data centers and the cloud (DevOps & SREs) - Working in a Linux or Mac OS X environment, familiarity with server administration and tools Skills and Qualifications - Familiarity with modern web languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, Clojure, or Scala - Experience with dynamic and functional languages Haven?t mastered everything in that list?
