This is a fun free, annual event that members of many local user groups get together at to mingle, eat and play games. This is the third time the event's been held and it's been lots of fun every time. Please view the event details and sign up to bring some food: http://calagator.org/events/1250457765 See you there! -igal From michelle at pdxpython.org Mon Dec 7 21:28:33 2009 From: michelle at pdxpython.org (michelle rowley) Date: Mon, 7 Dec 2009 12:28:33 -0800 Subject: [portland] PDX Python tomorrow: Winter Coders' Social @ NedSpace Old Town Message-ID: <813046e40912071228n29a895b3t9e12180a419c3b8a@mail.gmail.com> Hey Pythoneers! It's that time of the year again - the 3rd annual Winter Coders' Social is tomorrow night! Instead of our regular meeting this month, we'll be joining other programmers for an evening of food, games, programmerish mingling, etc. The fun starts at 6pm at NedSpace Old Town (right above Backspace). It's a potluck, so feel free to bring something to share. There will be a keg of beverage for all to enjoy. Also, please bring anything else you think might be fun, such as board games, cards, bean bag tossing games (I believe we had a bean bag toss the first year :)) and whatnot. Here is a link to the Calagator posting for the event: http://calagator.org/events/1250457765. Check out what potluck items others have signed up to bring, and you add yourself (and your potluck item) to the list! There's also a map of the NedSpace Old Town location. 6pm - 11pm NedSpace Old Town 117 NW 5th Ave. Suite 210 Portland OR 97209 I'm excited about the social this year (surprise, I'm excited ;)), and hope to see you all there! I've been using DRDB for years on cloud, virtual and physical servers to provide highly-available data services without the expense, hassle and single-point-of-failure issues of a hardware SAN. I recommend learning more about it. -igal Alan wrote: > NOTE: The meeting time and location has changed again. > > PLUG Advanced Topics > December 16th, 2009 > 7pm - 9pm > > Roots Organic Brewing > 1520 Southeast 7th Avenue > Portland, OR 97214-3568 > (503) 235-7668 > > Using DRBD to Build High-Availability Clusters on Commodity Hardware > > Charlie Schluting of LINBIT will explain how DRBD works and how people > currently use it, with enough information to get you started building > your own clusters. > > DRBD stands for Distributed Replicated Block Device, and as the name > implies, allows you to replicate block devices over TCP.
