DOes this mean that the patch is obselete now or that part of it needs to removed? Pardon if this is a stupid question. (As I said above I will look at this after Monterey).

I applied the patch on Linux64. test_ucn.py now passes. An email from Bill Tutt on python-dev indicated that I don't need to test it on Win64.
