Just a note for people who have not seen this list and Slack group before:
we recently added these [1] to
https://numpy.org/devdocs/dev/index.html#contributing-to-numpy as
alternatives to this list and GitHub (which are still preferred)
specifically for people who are interested in contributing but are hesitant
to inquire on a list with many hundreds of people on it.
