I have got few invitation for Talks related to Python or Django 101 from various colleges in NCR. Being a new-comer the issue I am facing right now is related to a consolidated document that NOT ONLY teaches the basic of Python 101 BUT ALSO flourish the ideology of our group NCR Python so that more students and even faculties can get connected. We can take this issue on a seperate thread also. Hope everyone got my point. Thanks Aniket -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Applications are welcomed not just for the Kivy framework itself but on all the projects managed by the Kivy organisation including Python-for-Android, Kivy-iOS, PyJNIus, PyOBJus, Plyer and Buildozer. As such, GSOC projects can range in focus and difficulty from those that should be accessible to intermediate Python users to low level work making use of Cython, or interacting with Java and Objective C on mobile platforms. Our page of GSOC information and suggested projects is available here and includes ideas touching all of these areas. However, these are just guidelines and suggestions; if you have a different idea, we?re happy to discuss it. Prospective GSOC students should introduce themselves on the kivy-dev mailing list , and also say hello on our IRC channel , discussions there will be an important part of any application. Beyond that, check out the project page linked above, and good luck with your applications Kind Regards qua-non -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... In-Reply-To: References: Message-ID: GSOC is not just about python, Hopefully there would be a lot more orbs in GSOC at the meet this weekend; to answer these kind of questions. For Kivy It mostly depends on quality of the proposal and the calibre of the student, unfortunately a basic knowledge of python is a must for us(Kivy). Python is not a hard language to pickup though, I'd suggest going through a few of the getting started with python books. We have some of them mentioned in our getting started guide http://kivy.org/docs/gettingstarted/intro.html You might want to get used to the the project you want to contribute to using their contributing guide every good project has one, so do we here http://kivy.org/docs/contribute.html . The best way to get familiar with the project is to start small maybe by doc submissions and slowly move onto small bug fixes... Every org taking part in GSOC is also supposed to have a GSOC page listing projects and such like this http://kivy.org/docs/gsoc.html These pages are supposed to be detailed enough to answer questions like yours, I suggest looking through the orgs participating in GSOC and then going through their GSOC page to see what fits you the best. You should also make sure to go through the guidelines put forward by Google http://en.flossmanuals.net/gsocstudentguide/ Hope that helps.
