Any objective reason to suggest docs.python.org over the coursera course
? Have you yourself taken the course and found it lacking in anyway ?

Course provides a structured format as well as time boxing, which is
very helpful. I myself have seen the course and have interacted with
people who have taken the course. I think its a very good suggestion.
Both docs and courses have their place. They are different form of
leanings.

If you prefer a more reading oriented form of learning dive into python
is better resource to learn python compared to docs.

This course https://www.coursera.org/course/interactivepython is quite
good and people wanting to learn python should consider it. It is a very
fun way to learn python. You can also interact with other people taking
the course.
