You don't use Xapian, do you? I think, a reindex run will be necessary when 
you change the pages database manually.

I'm wondering how "official" the file system interface to the moinmoin database 
is. Is it supposed to work when the changes are made by some program different 
from the MoinMoin server? Of course the server must be shut down first. Or is 
it a case of "it just works"? - for the time being...
