Sure if you tag (use Categories) your Page with something unique like CategorySurenameLastname It would be easy to make a fullsearch like [[FullSearch(CategorySurenameLastName)]] and display all your tagged pages. Aother solution would be to write an own macro that parse the edit-log file and get the probber username from the user-dir. cya Marcel From m.a.navid at gmail.com Mon Oct 1 16:49:12 2007 From: m.a.navid at gmail.com (moux) Date: 1 Oct 2007 13:49:12 -0700 Subject: [Moin-user] Do we like the same books? I cannot create an account on a wiki created off that, because the UserPreferences page doesn't render the account creation form. I see that in the underlay folder UserPreferences has [[UserPreferences]] where the form for account creation should be. It seems like this should be <> (which is what is on moinmaster). Is there an updated version of underlay data that has all the macros converted? Thanks, David From mail at heavy.ch Tue Oct 2 15:45:57 2007 From: mail at heavy.ch (mail at heavy.ch) Date: Tue, 02 Oct 2007 21:45:57 +0200 Subject: [Moin-user] Contractmanagement (DMS) in MoinMoin Wiki Message-ID: <1191354357.7713.26.camel@lestat.vampyre.home> Hi there A) First let me explain the whole story: I have the task to arrange and organize various (100, 200, ..) contracts (as PDF Documents). So I came on the idea to settle this over the Intranet/MoinMoin. Sure a DMS would do it better, but at the moment we do not want to use this kind of system. I'm using now the Theme EXPLORER [2] and arranging the contracts with the Category Tag and some Sitename-Structure (with "/"), so every contracts got his page with an pdf as an attachment. And using some ACL with Groups helps to give permission only to allowed workers. So it's for me now possible to group them and make FullSearches and custom Pagelist's. Additionally I would like to be able to save the relevant Meta data of the present contracts. I use the syntax like "Company:: MyFirma Business AG". Thus I can find the appropriate data via full text search like ""Company:: MyFirma" and become DL, DT and DD Tags in the HTML-View. Just need to be cared that the meta-tags (e.g. Company::) are always the same. For that task I'll use different templates. The forthcoming XAPIAN search in MoinMoin1.6 will contribute to the fact then that also the pdf documents could be searched as full text. So in the next few weeks I will try to start with that solution. B) But now my question: 1. Exist there any impacts with the upcoming release of moin1.6 with the meta-tags that I need to be aware. I will do it that with moin1.5.8 2. I'm not fully happy with the current "MetaData", also I tried out the "A Full Implementation" stuff [1] but seems to me not 100% compatible with future metadata in moinmoin (due the syntax). Another idea was the solution with "#!section" stuff, but searching for a meta-tag is also clumsy. --> any comments? better ideas are welcome.... thx! Hi Preben, Can you tell us more about your platform? OS/Memory/etc. A few more questions: What was the content of the page that you aborted while loading? What's your browser? Can you put together a scenario/script that someone can run to reproduce this? On Linux, the strace tool might tell you what the Python interpreter is so busy with. Actually, worst, because of the tips for visually impaired users (we use an accessible theme). However, I don?t see a (easy) way to get out. This is because links like this: [[attachment:filename.pdf]] now default to the "view" action instead of the "get" action like they used to. Is there any way to force a "get" instead of a "view" in the link? I want a link that will begin downloading the file straight away, instead of forwarding to the attachment page and attempting to display it in the browser. The use case is for someone like me who hates the acrobat pdf plugin, and doesn't want to have to click twice (once to get to the attachment page, and again to click the "Download" link) to download the file. This is because links like this: > > [[attachment:filename.pdf]] > > now default to the "view" action instead of the "get" action like they > used to. Yeah, this is intended. For download there is a link at top of the page you get. BTW, this is a small step into the direction where we will go in the future. After we have merged the storage backend work of Heinrich Wendel, made a new storage backend storing data and metadata separately and finally introducing mimetype items (unifying pages and attachments), that attachment: and drawing: stuff will go away completely (and we will get rid of lots of ugly code then). After that work, you will just write [[/filename.pdf]] to link to a sub-item (file) of the current item (wiki page). You could also use [[filename.pdf]] to link to a top-level file item. Because pages and files will be treated the same way (it's all just items with mimetypes then), moin will always link to the (implicit) show action then. (this is why AttachFile's "view" is used currently) That "show" action will then display the item and maybe also some additional metadata about it. > Is there any way to force a "get" instead of a "view" in the link? No. At least not yet. Maybe I could use the params section of [[target|desc|params]] to make it possible, lets see... > The use case is for someone like me who hates the acrobat pdf plugin, > and doesn't want to have to click twice (once to get to the attachment > page, and again to click the "Download" link) to download the file. I see that it currently makes things maybe slightly more complicated (having to do 2 clicks instead of one), but OTOH it will help making an easy migration to what will be there in the future. Is there already a params section for links? If so, what kind of parameters can you pass to it? The overall plan of treating attachments like any other page sounds like the right way to go. Hi folks. As I'm sure most of you know by now, this problem is increasing dramatically in the last few weeks. Big sites like redhat (http://sources.redhat.com/lvm2/wiki/RecentChanges), x.org and so on are seeing these wiki spams by auto-created users (XXXjingkeYYYY, caicaimmXX, and many others). I run a small wiki for scons.org, and we don't have the resources to despam every day. We need a captcha plug-in to prevent bot registration; we've already turned off anonymous editing but it doesn't help anymore. I looked at Russell Stuart's Email Activation, but self-activation could be trivially implemented by these bots (they have valid rDNS and everything), and the last thing we need is a human admin in the registration loop. What's wrong with recaptcha (http://recaptcha.net/)? It's a decent captcha system, and it helps scan old books (a CMU project). It has audio for the visually impaired, and has a simple two-function python API, see http://pypi.python.org/pypi/recaptcha-client. Can someone at least tell me where to plug it in? What you can do and what will help immediately: Create some EditorGroup page and put all trusted users on it. Then use acl_rights_default = u"EditorGroup:read, write, delete, revert All:read". The group page will also get protected by this default ACL: only people who are in EditorGroup can edit EditorGroup (to add more people). For 1.6, I am working on kind of a "text captcha" system. This is a good suggestion, and would surely work, but it would *prevent* new users from editing without someone's help, right? I don't think we want to go that far yet. It's more admin work to add more legit users (though pretty simple, just edit a page on requ est) and since we're an open-source project, we *want* more wiki editors -- just not bots. I think all we need is captchas on the registration page, at least for now. The recaptcha API is two simple python functions: def displayhtml (public_key, use_ssl = False, error = None): """Gets the HTML to display for reCAPTCHA public_key -- The public api key use_ssl -- Should the request be sent over ssl? error -- An error message to display (from RecaptchaResponse.error_code)""" def submit (recaptcha_challenge_field, recaptcha_response_field, private_key, remoteip) """ Submits a reCAPTCHA request for verification. Returns RecaptchaResponse for the request recaptcha_challenge_field -- The value of recaptcha_challenge_field from the form recaptcha_response_field -- The value of recaptcha_response_field from the form private_key -- your reCAPTCHA private key remoteip -- the user's ip address """ I'd be happy to plug this into the user registration page; I'm a decent python hacker but not a MoinMoin dev (I just administer our wiki). But I don't know just where to put them, or whether the user reg page is amenable to using this style of API. I'm guessing it would always display the captcha, but only care about the response if it's a new-user registration. Thomas, would you mind emailing me off-list at garyo at oberbrunner dot com and giving me a couple of quick pointers to where I should put this, if you don't mind? I'll be happy to submit it back when I get it working. -- Gary From skip at pobox.com Sat Oct 20 09:37:56 2007 From: skip at pobox.com (skip at pobox.com) Date: Sat, 20 Oct 2007 08:37:56 -0500 Subject: [Moin-user] captcha system for moin? Of course, you can implement Thomas's suggestion immediately, while you either have to wait for a captcha system to be integrated into Moin and released or modify your copy. You can have something that will work today or wait for something else later. Once I added e-mail account verification to my wiki (using one of the macros + actions posted on the moin site), it cut down dramatically on the spam. In particular, I've seen several of these (and also several caicaimm32 accounts, with varying digits) go unvalidated, so they never get write access. However, I still get a few spammers. For example, I just saw several new pages from baobs521 this morning, which means that the e-mail address given during new account creation was most likely valid, and the validation link in the outgoing e-mail message was used. So this can't just be a basic spambot. > It would be nice if these usernames were regular expressions instead. Hmmm ... the e-mail account verification macro I used had the option of steering some/all of the activation messages to a "moderator" e-mail address. I'm pretty sure it would be an easy task to send all user names that are low case letters/ numbers through for manual approval ... or anything where the e-mail address is from hotmail or gmail ... -- Steve --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Virginia Tech, CS Dept. As the page is fetched from MoinMaster, that would've to be done there. You maybe could experiment whether the update still works when you set local ACLs (they will vanish after the update, of course). > How would I do that? It seems that the page is updated from the > http://master.moinmo.in/BadContent original. Could it become a > moin-wide policy to disallow anonymous reading of that file across all > wikis? Well, as this is used on very many moin wikis (in many different moin versions), there should be some test whether this works for everybody first. > In addition, the BadContent page always shows up in the > RecentChangesMax macro. For example, you might have an (authenticated) area of your web site where users can upload files using web folders/WebDAV (in my case they are photos) and then someone might "import" those photos as attachments into a page that uses Gallery (very nice, by the way). An alternative could be a mechanism to declare that the attachments folder is to be taken from some other location on the web site. Gallery already does something like this for the thumbnails and webnails (which I found was necessary to make things work with large photo albums). Comments? I can get everything but the create page to work. We have a project with a contractor on it where we want the contractor to create & update pages for the project, but not to have read access to the rest of the wiki. I put a link on the front page (everyone has read access to it) for the project and then gave the contractor read, write, delete, revert access to the project pages; but he cannot create pages as he is not listed in the default ACL. Thanks in advance for your help. cheers, ski -- "When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it connected to the entire universe" John Muir Chris "Ski" Kacoroski, ski at nsd.org, 206-501-9803 or ski98033 on most IM services and gizmo From tw-public at gmx.de Tue Oct 30 19:56:08 2007 From: tw-public at gmx.de (Thomas Waldmann) Date: Wed, 31 Oct 2007 00:56:08 +0100 Subject: [Moin-user] moinmo.in site In-Reply-To: <18214.9274.460410.684763@montanaro.dyndns.org> References: <20070924115355.GF4037@dague.net> <18167.46991.197063.399947@montanaro.dyndns.org> <20070924141659.GC14880@Toms.NET> <20070925114455.GH4037@dague.net> <18169.16024.748398.170486@montanaro.dyndns.org> <20070925171453.GE14880@Toms.NET> <1192687722.18041.4.camel@black> <18202.1204.572315.84766@montanaro.dyndns.org> <18214.9274.460410.684763@montanaro.dyndns.org> Message-ID: <1193788568.10001.8.camel@black> > This is the first time I've seen that url. How long ago did it replace > http://moinmoin.wikiwikiweb.de/? You need to read the front page more often. :) It is since May 2007. Since then, both URLs pointed to the same content. Since the recent 1.6 migration, moinmoin.wikiwikiweb.de is read-only running 1.5.8 and points visitors to the new site at moinmo.in which runs 1.6 (meanwhile read-write). I guess the old site will be kept around for quite some time - many links point to there, but life will continue at moinmo.in. BTW, there is also master.moinmo.in (wiki for translations).
