This is a problem of your python installation, namely the 
socket module is broken, likely due to a non-suitable 
Setup.local. You prolly need a -lnsl or something similar.

The right place to ask is news:c.l.p, or checking the Python 
FAQs. I'm sure you are not the 1st to have this problem.
