If I remember correctly from some old discussion on linking tcl with
readline from a number of years ago: any software that is clearly
written to be linked to a GPL library is automatically GPL itself.

FTTW is GPL (not LGPL), which means that inclusion in any kind of
package leaves me out (I'm also writing commercial software in
python).
