I'm not sure what the issue is. What happens if you do the following:

mark at mark-VirtualBox:~/mm/scrubber$ bin/mailman shell

In the above, "mark at mark-VirtualBox:~/mm/scrubber$" is a shell prompt in
the directory in which you built Mailman at which you type what follows
on that line. ">>> " and "... " are python interpreter prompts at which
you type what follows on that line. Type control-D (end of file) at the
last such prompt. The other lines are the responses I get.
