Karsten did send the additional log line showing the connect did not happen until 9:53:02. 

Maybe something is happening that is delaying Postfix in creating the SMTPD process. Maybe a slow DNS response (resolving 127.0.0.1 to localhost)? I'm not sure when Postfix would log the connect message in that case but since it logs the resolved hostname, I'm thinking at the end.
