What EXACTLY do you have configured in the mailman administrative 
interface as the footer of the list?

What you should have configured is a line containing nothing but 
"MAILMAN_MIMEDEFANG", followed by the actual footer text you want, 
followed by another line containing nothing but "MAILMAN_MIMEDEFANG".

Is that what you have?
