Okay, the magic incantation for httpd.conf at least for Fedora Core 6
httpd.conf file to use both Zope and Mailman at the same time with a
consistent URL for both Zope and Mailman seems to be:

   <VirtualHost IP_OF_SERVER_HERE:80>
   ServerName linuxmednews.com
   ServerAdmin webmaster at linuxmednews.com
   ProxyPass /mailman/ !
   ProxyPassReverse /mailman/ !
   ProxyPass /pipermail/ !
   ProxyPassReverse /pipermail/ !
   ProxyPass /
http://localhost:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/linuxmednews.com:80/linuxmednews/VirtualHostRoot/
   ProxyPassReverse /
http://localhost:8080/VirtualHostBase/http/linuxmednews.com:80/linuxmednews/VirtualHostRoot/
</VirtualHost>

   <VirtualHost IP_OF_SERVER_HERE:80>
   ServerName www.linuxmednews.com
#    ServerAlias *
# redirects everything
   Redirect permanent / http://linuxmednews.com/
  </VirtualHost>
