Yes I do, but am I correct in thinking the bounce processing isn't going to happen because postfix is killing the session from mailman before it completes?

I am know considering settings smtpd_hard_error_limit to something like 5000.

Got clues of the postfix smtpd_hard_error_limit here

I recently purged lots of dead accounts that are obviously still listed in my mailing lists. These seem to correspond to the Server not connected error. What's the best way to address this?

Do you have bounce processing enabled for the lists? If bounce
processing is enabled with appropriate parameters, the dead addresses
will soon be disabled and then unsubscribed.
