On first blush, it's hard to see how this would be useful.

Umm, yeah.  I think you know me well enough to know what my views on 
SPF are, but on the other hand this does demonstrate the utility of 
the feature you're asking for.

I wouldn't have used SPF as the example here, but I take your point.
