why not just email  listname-request at domain.com
and put the command

who "adminpassword"

mailman will mail back a list of all the names.

No, no. That won't work.  You need to do this:
$PREFIX/bin/remove_members --fromall jimpop at yahoo.com
$PREFIX/bin/list_members -f <listname>
