[Mailman-Users] Errors During Make-Install

You probably have a problem with your Python installation.

_socket is part of the standard Python library providing support for
the UNIX/BSD socket interface. Unless and until you can run python from
the command line and enter the command "import socket" without getting
an exception raised then there is no point in trying to do the Mailman
install. You may need to re-install Python.

For instance, the following shows the socket module is installed
properly (no exccption raised by the import):

[machine!/home/barrett]:python
Python 2.3.3 (#1, May 11 2004, 13:30:18)
[GCC 3.3.2] on sunos5
Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information.
 >>> import socket
 >>> import sys
 >>> sys.exit()
[machine!/home/barrett]:
