brad,

thanks for the quick reply. i've compared the /etc/aliases entries for the
new list with old ones that i've been running for years and don't see any
difference. i even copied and pasted the entries below straight from
mailman when i created the list.

here's what's in my /etc/aliases for "test".

## test mailing list
test: "|/export/home4/public_html/mailman/
mail/mailman post test"
test-admin: "|/export/home4/public_html/mailman/
mail/mailman admin test"
test-bounces: "|/export/home4/public_html/mailman/
mail/mailman bounces test"
test-confirm: "|/export/home4/public_html/mailman/
mail/mailman confirm test"
test-join: "|/export/home4/public_html/mailman/
mail/mailman join test"
test-leave: "|/export/home4/public_html/mailman/
mail/mailman leave test"
test-owner: "|/export/home4/public_html/mailman/
mail/mailman owner test"
test-request: "|/export/home4/public_html/mailman/
mail/mailman request test"
test-subscribe: "|/export/home4/public_html/mailman/
mail/mailman subscribe test"
test-unsubscribe: "|/export/home4/public_html/mailman/
