The UPGRADING file (see
<http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/mailman/mailman/UPGRADING?view=markup>
for the current version) has some instructions on upgrading from one
release of version 2.1.x to another, as well as running 2.0.x and
2.1.x in parallel on the same machine.
The FAQ has some potentially useful information, too. FAQ entry

<http://www.python.org/cgi-bin/faqw-mm.py?req=show&file=faq03.023.htp>
talks about moving a list from one machine to another, and I'm sure
that there are other FAQ entries which might also be useful to you --
I'd suggest doing some searches.
