[Mailman-Users] subscriber providing an "@" but told they didn't?

Anyone ever seen this? I've seen the screen grab from the subscriber 
- or potential subscriber - who is using the mailman page to try and 
subscribe - enters a regular email address (name at domain.com) and a 
first name, no password, hits submit, taken to a new page with an 
inappropriate error:

The email address you supplied is not valid. (E.g. it must contain an 
`@'.)
