This is the way it's designed to work. Note that the help for
welcome_msg says

>Note that this text will be wrapped, according to the following rules:

>    * Each paragraph is filled so that no line is longer than 70 characters.
>    * Any line that begins with whitespace is not filled.
>    * A blank line separates paragraphs. 

So have you tried preceeding your lines with whitespace? - e.g.

 My Name, List Manager
 My Phone Number
 My Email
 My Website

Instead of

My Name, List Manager
My Phone Number
My Email
My Website
