When you change the list to non-digestable, you get the following

"Warning: You have digest members, but digests are turned off. Those
people will not receive mail."

I.e. they remain on the list but they don't receive mail until they are
set to message mode by you or by themselves.

The web roster available from the listinfo page separates subscribers
into "digested" and "non-digested" as does the results of the e-mail
"who" command, but these lists do not show "hidden members" if any.

The best way to get the list of digested members is

  bin/list_members --digest
