[Mailman-Users] Can I delete shunt messages?

MM FAQ says that shunt messages must be processed with bin/unshunt

Ok, but I have now 18320 files (9160 messages) and I can unshunt
it.... yes I have run unshund many times.

Can I delete these messages with rm?
I need to update any database?
