You're burned by a bad mailman rpm shipped with Red Hat 9 (sometimes I
wonder if they try to give mailman rpm's a bad name :).  This has been
covered here as recently as yesterday.

Here's a nice rpm tip for finding documentation for a particular package:

    rpm -qd mailman

This will show you all the documentation files included in the rpm.  Handy
to know.  You should find the mailman docs in /usr/share/doc/mailman-2.1 on
Red Hat 9, AFAIK.
