Hmm, Then I'm not sure why genaliases wouldn't be creating the aliases files
for you.  Something else must be messed up, but I'm not really sure what it
would be.  Maybe someone else will pipe in with some suggestions.

If you really wanted, you could just put the output of genaliases into
data/aliases and then run postmap on that to cread aliases.db, but that
would only be a band-aid solution.
